Types of Successful Online Content
A great way to increase your website's traffic is to constantly update your content with important, timely information that is useful to your audience. If your content is useful to your visitor(s), they will most likely share it with others thereby increasing traffic to your site.Some examples of successful online content types from the Jordan Kasteler's column: Search & Social include:
- Manifesto: write an essay or blog on something you are passionate about that your target audience can agree or relate to (ie What are the best ad campaigns of all time? Burger King's Granny Where's the Beef?, Doritos Slingshot Baby)
- Controversy: write about the opposite to stir up dissent. (example: Stop Coddling the Super-Rich, Warren Buffet’s August 2011 op-ed in the New York Times)
- Promise: provide visitors with a promise to improve (ie 6 months to a better bottomline)
- Quiz: add a quiz to your site. It allows visitors to interactive in a fun way. The quiz should be user-focused and be of interest to the user.
- Ranked List: Do a top 10, 100, etc. The list can be your own list or refer to another published list in which you add your own comments to (ie "Top ten oddball news stories" then add a comment about one of the stories)
